Explore Montreal Island's urban forest with our interactive Urban Tree Explorer. The map showcases information about urban trees of Greater Montreal area, including the species and the services they provide to society such as improving air quality, carbon sequestration and mitigating water runoff. Sort trees according to species (either by common or latin name) or the ecosystem service that they provide using the menu on the righthand side of the menu. Enjoy!
We would like to thank the David Suzuki Foundation for its support in characterizing the ecosystem services provided by public trees in the Greater Montreal area. We also thank all the municipalities that agreed to share their urban forest inventory data: Baie-D'Urfé, Côte-Saint-Luc, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dorval, Hampstead, Kirkland, Montréal, Montréal-Est, Mont-Royal, Pointe-Claire and Westmount. A sample of the data obtained is included in the visualization tool. Finally, we would like to thank the Quebec Center for Biodiversity Science for its support in developing the tool and hosting the data.
